The Winter 2014 Box League has been a roaring success! It concluded on Tuesday night when Jen Holmes, David Milsom, Afton Krip and Tom George made history by being the first to play a Mixed Doubles Box League match under our new fabulous floodlights.

Special thanks must go to Owen Morris for organising and supervising the event. As a consequence of it's success, plans are already being made for a Spring 2015 Box League!

Results:

The winners of Box 1 with a perfect score of 30 points were Jen Holmes and David Milsom! The runners-up of Box 1 were Sian Bassett-Roberts and Jack Kerrigan with a score of 23!

The result of Box 2 was even tighter. With 20 points the winners were Jane Llewellyn and Stuart Nash. Runners-up with a score of 18 points were Sue Sutton and Tony Krip!

Congratulations to all winners and runner-ups!

With six pairs playing a round robin event, followed by semi finals and a final. Winners on the day, which was sundrenched, were Tina and Tom who narrowly beat Jane and Owen in the final. A big thank you to Sian Bassett Roberts for organising the day and for bringing delicious homemade Welsh Cakes!

Pentyrch Tennis Club were in need of an updated logo which mirrored some of our landscape around us. What better way to achieve this than by asking the local Pentyrch Primary School to enter a competition for one of their pupils to come up with a winning idea.

We had over 30 entries and they were all very imaginative.

The 3 winners all produced work which incorporated the famous Garth Mountain. The Garth sits behind Pentyrch protecting the village from extremes of weather as well as providing a stunning backdrop.

1st Place - Luke Jones

2nd Place -Sophie Petersen

3rd Place - Annabelle Pickthall

All 3 winners received tennis gear and a t shirt with the new logo.

The remaining entrants received a free tennis lesson at the club.

We hope we can encourage as many youngsters to come and play tennis through this initiative.
